This course about Children Literature was created to encourage in every student the desire to read the children books, to know literature itself rather than what has been written about literature. The second is to interpret literature both personally and historically, that is, to show how a great tale generally reflects not only the author's life and thought but also the spirit of the age and the ideals of the nation's history. Finally to enjoy every class doing our best.

Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm known as The Grimm Brothers were born at Hanau in Hasse-Kassel, Germany. Jacob Grimm the second son, was born on January 4, 1785 and Wilhelm Grimm the third son, was born on February 24, 1786. The Grimms were a large family of nine children, eight boys and one girl. Their father was a lawyer and after his death they set out to Kassel to attend law school and to follow in their father’s footsteps.
The Grimms had been collecting fairy tales from the people of Hesse since the early 1800’s. They had a favourite local storyteller named Marie Muller.
In 1812, the Grimm Brothers published their first volume of eighty-six stories and tales. In 1814 the second volume contained seventy stories. The stories were a success and the brothers were recognized for their work in 1819 with honorary doctorates from Marburg University.
In 1825 Wilhelm married Henriette Dorothea Wild. Through the years the brothers were working as librarians in different Universities.
In 1838 they began the work on the thirty-two volumes of a German dictionary, which focuses on history. Within the next ten years the Grimms resigned from their teaching at the university of Berlin and devoted their time to the completion of the dictionary. The Grimms did not live to see the final edition of their German dictionary.
Wilhelm Grimm died on December 16, 1859 and Jacob Grimm on September 20, 1863.

Brothers Grimm's fairy tales are recognized because they are dedicated to children. The Rapunzel story is one of the most important and for this reason the Brothers Grimms decided to adapt the story with few diferences.
one difference is that Rapunzel's parents wanted very much to have children until they were finally able to conceive of Rapunzel, on the other hand, the old story tells that after the disease Rapunzel's mother she was pregnant. Another difference is that Rapunzel's mother during pregnancy had a great craving to eat the fruits of the next garden, and the classic story tells that Rapunzel's mother was ill and the only way to heal it was eating these fruits. Also in the story adapted by the Brothers Grimm, Rapunzel was taken to a desert where she had two children with the prince, while in the classic tale Rapunzel didn't had children and was carried to a lonely forest.

She was kidnapped by a witch and a prince manages to rescue her. The latest version was made by Disney in a movie called Tangled, where a witch kidnaps the only daughter of kings. Each year, all the people lit a light and sent to heaven to ask the princess again. Rapunzel is locked in a tower where the witch to believe it was her mother. One day, Rapunzel meets by chance a thief who is the person who finally releases it. The drama of the story takes place in the search for the witch and the relationship between Rapunzel and the thief.
I think Grimm brothers born with a big God`s gift, it was be the way for give magic to our children; they could put in their minds beautiful stories as a part of their infancy, and let them dream with impossible things.

Her rescuer was a prince and now her rescuer is a thief. Before, Rapunzel’s parents were peasants, poor people. Now she is the kidnapped daughter of a king and queen, they are royalty. In the first version, Rapunzel heals wounds with her tears; in the modern story, her hair has magical healing powers, also has the ability to make the old young again.
Pinocchio is a story that manages to move to humans because its essence is to let you know the lies bring consequences. You can show the tenderness within a doll they thought that they had no feelings and made mistakes like any other human being. Finally I think it's important to speak the truth in any situation. :)
Pinocchio is a good story for children. It is so interesting for reading and telling to others¸ mainly to little children. This story has a lot of messages which we can learn and put it in practice during life. Besides Pinocchio is a character which is loved by children. The most wonderful thing is Pinocchio teaches children don’t say lies.
