Folk Tales

Background information on Folk Tales

Folktales (or folklore) are defined as "stories that grow out of the lives and imaginations of the people, or folk." They are heard and remembered, and they are subject to various alterations in the course of retellings.

Our activity today is quite simple, choose one of these rubrics per story and evaluate it!

A FAIRY TALE…!

A FAIRY TALE…!

A fairy tale is no only a remarkable story about supernatural beings or magical events, but also, is a kind of folktale or fable. However keep in mind that folk tales are not necessarily fairy tales. The simplest way to explain this is to think of fairy tales as a subgenre of folklore along with myths and legends. A good point for taking into account is they were told and retold for generations before they were written down. I am deeply sure everyone in the world has grown up, reading, listening to, or watching fairy tales as a child. Aren’t you?
