Chapter 6: Constructing and Grading Tests |
powered by GoBookee.net |
This course about Children Literature was created to encourage in every student the desire to read the children books, to know literature itself rather than what has been written about literature. The second is to interpret literature both personally and historically, that is, to show how a great tale generally reflects not only the author's life and thought but also the spirit of the age and the ideals of the nation's history. Finally to enjoy every class doing our best. English teacher

Introduction about Children Literature
Our first impression about Children Literature
The History Of Children’s Books from cbrownell
Lobban (1989:10) discusses the purpose of literature, but has difficulty defining the concept. Nearly a decade later, the matter has not been completely clarified, with various authorities stressing different aspects of the material collectively known as literature.
Similarly, 'children's literature' defies definition. Hanson (1998) produces a selection of quotations in order to demonstrate the difficulties of producing a single, concise definition of 'children's literature'. She recommends that an appropriate definition is:
"...the material created for and widely read, viewed and heard by children, that has an imaginative element..."

Lexical Approach
What is the meaning of Lexical Approach?
An Approach to teaching languages that has a lot in common with the communicative approach, but also examines how lexical phrases, prefabricated chunks of language, play an important role in producing fluent speech. The lexical approach was first coined by Michael Lewis, who observed that "language consists of
grammaticalised lexis not lexicalised grammar " (The Lexical Approach,
1993).
PRINCIPLES AND IMPLICATIONS OF THE LEXICAL APPROACH
v The acquisition of lexis is
not a purely intellectual process, but an experiential one.
v The acquisition of
vocabulary is not a linear but branching process (words are not learnt
mechanically but associativily; good language learners recognize and use
collocations, polyword contractions, fixed and semi-fixed expressions, etc.
v Task and process, rather
than exercise and product are emphasised.
v Receptive skills,
particularly listening, are recognized as deserving primary importance.
v Succesful language is a
wider concept than accurate language.
v It is also a social
process: we expand our apprehension of word meanings by interchanging and
sharing them with others.
